Meet Daniique Mathieú, the owner, Master Baker, and licensed Notary Public behind Cake Baking Cakes. Since starting the business in 2021 in her East Oakland duplex kitchen, Daniique has combined her self-taught modern techniques with the cherished Southern recipes from her grandmother, Lillie.
Her passion for baking was nurtured by her family from Monroe, Shreveport, and New Orleans, Louisiana. Daniique's dedication to custom designs for all occasions began in culinary trade school, where she even had the chance to participate in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Despite not initially pursuing baking professionally, Daniique's talent was undeniable, and during the pandemic, she was encouraged to turn her passion into a business. This decision came as she needed to homeschool her son, leaving her 9 to 5 job behind. This led to the birth of Cake Baking Cakes, where she combined traditional baking with modern artistic designs, making her business one of the Bay Area's sought-after home bakeries.
In addition to her baking expertise, Daniique holds a Bachelor's in Business Management and is pursuing a second Bachelor's in Hospitality Management. She operates a licensed cottage kitchen, holds business insurance, and is an active member of Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Sigma Alpha Pi honor societies, reflecting her dedication and discipline.
Furthermore, Daniique is a licensed notary public, capable of handling legal documents. Her mission is to provide real, uncomplicated baking, staying true to scratch baking traditions without using chemicals or preservatives. Every item is handmade, designed by the talented and creative pastry chef, herself.
